Suburban Scenes La mayoría de los usuarios frecuentes de Internet en los países occidentales están a día de hoy más o menos acostumbrados al software de Google Street View. Sin embargo, cuando el servicio fue lanzado en varios países europeos allá por 2008/9 suscitó una polémica considerable en torno a temas sobre privacidad, derecho a la intimidad o el uso del espacio público y privado. Desde entonces ha habido un creciente número de artistas que han investigado esos problemas a través de diferentes técnicas pero la mayoría de ellos tienen un punto de partida común: la apropiación de las imágenes tomadas por las propias cámaras de Google. El enfoque de Daniel Mayrit es sin embargo radicalmente diferente. La serie Suburban Scenes no hace uso de ningún tipo de fotografías ya almacenadas en la web, sino que todas las imágenes de la serie han sido construidas por el artista en forma de tableaux cuidadosamente orquestados y fotografiados en una forma que puede resultar familiar al espectador, y que replica  precisamente el peculiar efecto visual de Google Street View.   · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·   Suburban Scenes The most frequent Internet users coming from western countries are nowadays more or less used to using Google Street View software. However, when the service was first launched in various European countries in 2008-2009 it caused a wave of controversy regarding privacy issues, the right to intimacy and the use of public or private spaces. Since then more and more artists have investigated these problems through different techniques finding inspiration in the same starting point: the appropriation of images taken with Google cameras. Daniel Mayrit’s approach to this theme is however totally different. The series Suburban Scenes does not use any kind of previously stored web images. All of the images belonging to his series have been created by the artist himself while carefully orchestrating and photographing in a way that seems familiar to the spectator and which copies the peculiar visual effect of Google Street View images.
